Community agreements

Because this course will offer opportunities to practice what you're learning, we'd like to establish community agreements specific to this environment. In an effort to maintain a safe and welcoming environment, we ask that you follow these agreements:

  1. This is a safer space. Because no space is truly safe, we are holding each other to the intention that we will create a safer space for others to learn and grow.
  2. It's OK to make mistakes. This is a chance for us to practice before taking our new practices and learnings into other spaces.
  3. Assume best intent. This is a space to learn, and sometimes that means making mistakes.
  4. Speak from "I". Avoid speaking for or generalizing on behalf of groupings of people or others in general.
  5. Community accountability. We're all engaged in helping the conversation move forward.
  6. Together we know a lot. Alone, we don't know it all.
  7. Feedback is a gift. Be open to receiving and giving, especially if a mistake has been made. Talk to each other rather than about each other.
  8. Respect names and pronouns. Do not intentionally misgender or misidentify others. Genuinely apologize when you make mistakes.
  9. Honor consent. Do not share the stories or details of others; let's focus on you and your learning.
  10. Las Vegas rule. What we learn here, leaves here. What we say here, stays here.
  11. Don't share anything you wouldn't want on the general internet. Due to advances in technology, such as screenshots, be mindful of what you share and how it might show up on the internet.
  12. Self-care. Take care of yourself whatever that may look like.

Comments that do not uphold these standards will be removed.
